What's Shakin'???

Good morning blogland! Remeber that feeling you experienced as a kid on Christmas Eve? You know the one, too excited to sleep so you keep waking up every hour on the hour hoping to catch a glimpse of sunlight. All to eager to rush to the tree and see what goodies you received from the big man in red? Did it get worse when you learned to tell time? Mine certainly did because even though there was no sign of light, the clock told you that there would be in 2 hours... 1 hour...30 minutes... you get the idea, I promise you this is going somewhere. That is EXACTLY how I've been feeling since last night when I made my first two shaker cards ever! I got an early start on the card and all that was left to do was assemble my newest creation but I had a setback. My little Minions were being bullies and would not go to sleep, stating repeatedly that they were not sleepy! Me being the boss and quite the smarty pants, I decided to call their bluff and let them stay up until they got sleepy...10pm passed and they were still up and very much active when my Hunny came home from work. One rush job, half a jar of spilled coffee grounds, and some missing heart shaped glitter later I had completed a sub par shaker card that, I suppose, was not bad for a first attempt. A word of advice, instant coffee grounds do NOT make good shaker card filling, a lesson I may or may not be speaking from personal experience on ^.^
Latte Anya

Well after a very dissapointing photo shoot with my not so awesome card, I caved and put them to bed, determined to do better on my next card and not wanting to wait until tomorrow, (which is now today of course!). Remember the old saying, if at first you don't succeed, stop and have a cupcake! No, wait, that's what I wanted to do...anywho, you know how it really goes! It proved to be totally true and out of my long night came this awesomeness! Another word of advice, MS Iridescent Hearts and Stars Glitter should come with a warning label. While handling them you may or may not received multiple puncture wounds which may or may not draw blood, again, hypothetically speaking, of course ^.^

TGF Queen Bean

Queen Bean

I was very sleepy, even if my girls weren't so I took a few pics and tried to get some shut eye. Yeah, didn't really happen. I tossed, turned, and repeatedly checked the time until I could reasonably justify blogging so early in the morning. I'm very proud of how this card came out, so I couldn't be happier to enter her in this week's Splendid Stamping FFF Challenge, Make it Move!, the Creative Card Crew Challenge, Punches/Dies,  the Simon Says Stamp Challenge, Anything Goes, 7 Kids Challenge Blog, #74 Embellishments! and maybe last minute for the ABC Challenge N for Not Just One! Wish me luck!

Feeling Peachy Keen

YAY! Its that time again at the farm, Garden Variety Tuesday! This week is a photo inspiration, I admit I've had a hard time wraping my brain around this color scheme. Even though I love my peachy, I wasn't too keen on the teal. However the DT did such a great inspiring job it gave me a few ideas of my own and out came this little lady!

Anya Strolls

I got Anya Strolls at the beginning of the month on release day and have been itching to use her on a card or project but just couldn't find papers for the idea I had in mind. This color combination had me in a rutt and I ended up sitting for hours trying to force this card but I took a break, looked through my paper stash old and new, and finally voila! In the DCWV Sweet Stack, of all places I found the inspiration I needed! With a few papers from the 'Fabulous Girl' Recollections stack with the cutest little butterfly peeking out, a little lace, and a surplus of stickles EVERYWHERE I could get away with, my card came together beautifully and almost efortlessly. The roses were actually all white but twinkling H2Os gave them a splash of color and shimmer to match the color theme. And I know I say this a lot but seriously, I am IN LOVE with the way the big peachy pink rose turned out, the color is GORGEOUS and so unexpected, an inspiration all on its own for me! I plan to enter this card in the following challenges;

Anyone for Anya? Sketch Challenge

Hi all! Today nothing to fancy, I have a few requests for father's day cards and I thought I would incorporate the sketch challenge over at Anyone for Anya? for the layout of my card.

Cafe Ian with Anya Strolls Sentiment

For this card I used Cafe Ian colored up with my trusty copics and a stamp from the Anya Strolls set for the sentiment. The DP is from My Mind's Eye, 'Indie Chic' and 'Follow Your Heart'. A few matching buttons and some baker's twine finished off this card! Sweet simple and to the point... not my thing but its still pretty adorable to me! The inside reads "Happy Father's Day!" I will also be entering this card in the All Sorts Challenge, True Blue.

Not so Ordinary Oats

Who doens't love a nice hot bowl of oatmeal on a cold, rainy morning? I know I do, but that's about the only time you'll see me eat it! Now the hubby and kidos will eat it all day long breakfast lunch and dinner, and then try it again the next day if I let them. Believe me, I've seen them do it, and it's not pretty. That being said, its a given that we run through oatmeal pretty quickly but it only just recently occoured to me to repurpose the containers to something wonderful! I recently mentioned a iamroses haul in one of my previous blogs, well I didnt exactly have an efficent way to store them without the risk of them being smashed or smooshed until I took a good look at one of those empty oatmeal canisters destined for the dump. Then it hit me, this sturdy can could easily be made to store my floral beauties! Of course the quaker guy is nice, as far as cereal box people go, but I wanted something more...hmmm, FABULOUS! so, TA-DA!

I FREAKIN love the way this turned out! The lid features a coffee filter rolled rose, which I learned how to make from a fabulous tutorial on one of my favorite blogs ever, The Sparkling Scrapper, thanks so much for this awesome tutorial!!! And yay me, another altered/ recycled type project that is NOT a card! I hope to enter this in the 7 Kids challenge blog, Anything but a Card challenge! as well as the Simon Says Stamp Challenge , Simon Says... Flower Power

Dressed to Impress

Hi again! Today has been semi productive as I tried my hand at stepping further out of my comfort zone on an altered art project. This week's theme at Anyone for Anya? was Weddings! the ABC Challenge Blog N for Not Just One (3 or more embellishments), and 7 Kids College Fund was 'Anything but a Card' I thought I'd give it a shot and make a door sign thingy for the bride's dressing room loaded down with embellishments and this is what I came up with:
C.C. Tuesday
C.C. Tuesday
C.C. Tuesday was a bit too small so I stamped her scanned her into my computer and made her a bit larger, this also allowed me to print her multiple times to one sheet rather than trying to stamp her over and over again. Sounds brilliant right? I thought so, until, unfortunately when I added the stickles to her tutu the ink from my printer began to run so I ended up with this dalmationy spotty thing going on -__-. Oh well, as you can see, my resolve wavered and I gave the 3D paper piecing thing a shot again, it went SOOOO much better this time. Turns out just as I suspected, I was overthinking the whole process! Other than the dalmation tutu I'm pretty pleased at how this turned out! Along with the challenge at Anyone for Anya mentioned above, I also plan to enter her in the Simon Says... Flowers! as well as the FFF Paper Piecing  challenge over at Splendid Stamping along with this little lady:
 Cheeky Geeky
Back to my SAFE PLACE! lol My absolute favorite TGF stamp ever takes center stage with her tie, skirt, and head band paper pieced from My Mind's Eye DP. As you can see, I'm also lovin the delicate words die from TGF as well as several different roses from iamroses with plenty of stickles! I love this card so much! Thanks for stopping by!

Fruit Filled Fun

Hi people! This post was supposed to go up last night but I've been feeling a little overwhelmed lately so there lies the reason for the lack of cards. I admit I love the fact that people love my cards enough to keep 'ordering' them but its begining to feel more like work than pleasure and this is supposed to be my escape! Well no matter, I enjoy making cards and just like with any other job I just have to remind myself that I love crafting, and 'special orders' are not so different from the blog challenges I love so much. That being said, I actually had fun making this one!

Fruit Ninja Card

This card was so different from what I normally make and it took a bit of thinking but I had a request for a fruit ninja card and all I could think was "What the...??? No!" but I realized the reason I was so against it was that it, like altered art projects, was just out of my comfort zone. Cute rubber stamps have been my go to since I discovered Magnolia and The Greeting Farm and I never looked back. To do this card I actually started by playing Fruit Ninja and getting a few screen shots for reference (now why couldn't I have that get up and go research mindset during college?). I used SU! chocolate chip cardstock for the base and ran a sheet of reddish brown cardstock through my Darice Wood Grain embossing folder, cut it into strips, and inked it with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain ink to bring out the wood grain and make the wood look aged. I used copic marker E25 to make some 'scratches' in the wood and dots for the nail holes. I used Microsoft Power Point to make the Fruit Ninja logo printed it out and colored it up with my prismas. Various fruit stickers from my stash were used for the flying fruit. This turned out to be surprisingly fun to do and my hubby was quite impressed, and wether he admitted it or not, excited about it! Hope it inspires someone to step outside their comfort zone and try something new, you may just surprise yourself!

Blue and Green with Envy

Hello everybody out there in blog land! Its been a beautiful day today after about 3 days of off and on  thunderstorms. The grass should be nice and green and overgrown by the end of the week at this rate, guess who's not cutting it! I'll give you a hint, IT'S ME! I'm NOT cutting it! lol In the spirtit of loving all things growing lush and green I am loving this week's DTT, now called Garden Variety Tuesday. Its a color challenge, which happens to be my favorite kind of challenge, using the colors blue and green! Without further ado, my entry:
 Garden Anya
I've been seeing 3d paper piecing popping up all over the place so I decided to give it a shot...NEVER again! ok I exaggerate maybe one day eventually possibly again but no time soon! This was a headache and I'm sure I was just overthinking everything but this was so difficult for me. pretty much every piece of Garden Anya was cut out and layered on top of another to give this (very slight : \ ) 3d effect. This literally took me hours to do and I'm not all that pleased with the way it turned out  but it was certainly a learning experience. Miss anya was colored with prisma color pencils on kraft cardstock and stickled with crystal stickles. The flowers were a free gift with my purchase from i am roses. In addition to the Garden Variety Tuesday challeng over at splendid stamping I also plan to enter this in the Simon Says... Flower Power! Challenge  . OMG I could do an entire blog entry about the awesome service, quick shipping/delivery, wonderful packaging and quality beautiful products they sell, this was my first of many more soon to come transactions with them and all I can say is WOW! be prepared to see many more flowers on my cards they have a customer for LIFE! If you're into flowers I highly recomend buying from them!

Commence with The Commencement

Hi everybody! I know I've been MIA, or rather AWOL in this case and my poor blog has been downright neglected! I recently bit off more than I could chew with a pretty large (especially for a beginner with 2 toddlers) order for graduation invitations that had to be shipped to my hometown in time to be mailed out by the end of this week! I was given two weeks notice, however, I had the misfortune of being sick for a whole week out of the two! Lol oh, well such is life I guess ^.^ I feel much better now though so I plan to jump right back in head first working on card challenges starting with The Greeting Farm's challenges (oh how I missed my rubber treasures!). I've been working on some altered projects in my spare time, they scare me, like normally make me run screaming for the hills scare me, but I thought why not give it a shot! Well here are the graduation invites, I made 30 in all. Coincidentally this is my first card ever without any stamps. I was miserable it looked naked and there were more than a few hiccups along the way lol but I'm pretty pleased about how they came out

Something Sweet

Hi ladies! Still not feeling 100% but I know more than a few of you can relate when I say a team of wild horses couldn't pull me away from a good challenge ^.^
Anya Treats

This is one of my favorite stamps with one of my favorite color combos on one of my favorite type of cards to make! I created this card specifically for the sketch challenge going on over at The Sweet Stop The awning was created using the SU! Word window die on scraps of pink and chocolate chip paper then glued down alternating colors. I then bent the ends to finish the look. I colored Miss Anya Treats with my copic markers and added some sparkle to her flower and cupcake icing with crystal Stickles. I finished this awning card off with the delicate words die from TGF and a Bon Bon that I colored up ages ago.

Under the Weather

Pockets Full of Love, and Lace

I am in love with pocket cards!!! The possibilities the ease, everything! Here's another Mother's Day card, hope you all enjoy it!
Tilda Spreads Love

I'm also in love with this DP from the Garden Tea Party Stack by DCWV. I used some of this paper a few weeks ago for my Tea Time In Wonderland post when I first received my Alice Bean in the mail. I fussy cut a flower and a few butterflies from one of the pages in the stack and used a small Recollections butterfly punch for the tiny butterflies here and there. The other DP was from the open stock at my LCS. I added some roses and stickled the background and small butterflies as well as adding a few pearls to complete the look. For the card insert I inked the edges with SU! Positively Pink and Tim Holtz's Walnut Stain to give it a distressed look. She will be entered in the Simply Magnolia 'Let's See Your Pockets!' Challenge (thanks Butterfly , for the suggestion!) as well as the Flutter By Wednesday's Challenge #238 and the Tilda Town Challenge #51 Anything Goes
OMG almost forgot to mention, the lace is from my local Walmart! The reason I'm excited is because they came in the cutest little plastic bubbles (which I have already re purposed one of). Each lace bubble contains 9ft of this darling lace and at $1 a bubble, I had to let everyone know about this deal! I'm including a pic below, has anyone else seen these things???

Orange Overload

Am I the only person who hated their school colors? No, I mean really hated their high school's colors. Every pep rally was reminiscent of Halloween, seriously, of all the color combinations in the world, black and orange! Well in the spirit of rebellion I have apparently been subconsciously harboring ill feelings for the color orange lol! Well today I decided to pull out my set of twinkling h2o watercolors and get over my aversion by trying my hand at my very first monochromatic card, this was the result
Cheshire Bean

Too much orange! lol I plan to enter her in the Farm Fresh Friday (FFF) Challenge- Monochromatic .
P.S. does this make you crave orange soda? ^.^

No Time to Say Hello, Good-bye! I'm Late I'm Late I'm Late!!!

Yes this is a very late last minute entry to the FFF Challenge- April Showers Bring May Flowers But here she is all the same!

Cheshire Bean
The post title is actually a line from the white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland and quite fitting considering I entered the challenge with 2 minutes to spare! Boy do I feel clever, you know, in a not really sorta way ^.^ Anyway everything on this card was something from my scrap stash except the cloud/rainy DP I made that one myself with london fog memento ink, W2 copic marker and crystal stickles, the perfect "april showers" to go with my "may flowers", the roses which I  colored with copics B0000, BG32, and BV000 to match the background DP. I finished the look with the smallest rhinestones I had in my collection and voila! not too shabby, huh? Also entered in the Crafty Cardmakers challenge #90 April Showers bring May Flowers

There's No Place Like Home! (PICTURE HEAVY)

Hello fellow crafters! After spending some time at my parents' house and giving them a chance to play with their grandchildren I finally made it back home! Technically speaking I've been home since Sunday, but boy have I been a busy bee! Among many other things, one of THE best things to have happened during my break was that my card making 'business' took off, sort of lol! I left my mom's house with about 4 card orders, one of which was a rather large order of baby dresser card invitations (40 to be exact) for a baby shower and 10 book cards for the same baby shower which I will be sure to post pics of once I get them complete. Today, however is mainly to showcase the card orders that I HAVE finished. I will most likely submit them for challenges to be named later in an update coming soon also. In the mean time, here ya go! I'm very excited about these

Edwin from Magnolia
This card was created for a boy's birthday who happens to be a Houston Texans fan. The image is a Magnolia colored with my trusty copics. I created the flags for the banner with my cricut 'Something to Celebrate' cart and made the star and stripe center with the 'George' font cart with red and white baker's twine to hold them up I used the tiny bubbles embossing folder to give the textured background and some alpha stickers I've had forever to spell out handsome along the side. The stars were actually orange table confetti from a party for my hubby but were recycled, recolored with copics, and given a coat of Judykins Diamond Glaze for texture and shine.

Tilda Sending Love

This pop up card was created for Mother's Day using another Magnolia stamp, Tilda Sending Love and also colored with copics. The DP is from DCWV and the solid green is a scrap embossed with the swirls embossing folder and lightly inked with aloe memento for definition. I colored the roses with my copics to match my card and the sentiment was from MFT. I finished off this card with some stickles here and there and a few pearls from my stash.

C.C. Designs- Swiss Pixies Sunflower Lula

Last but not least, my first pocket card! I actually hate sunflowers, they creep me out (loooong story, I wont go into that!) But someone specifically requested them, go figure. Well there was nothing to do but grin and bear it right? So I made the most of it and did my best. The image is Swiss Pixies Sunflower Lula colored with copics and stickled to death ^.^  The green DP is from the same DCWV stack used on the previous card and the rub on sentiment is also a DCWV. The yellow was actually just a scrap that I stamped and heat embossed sunflowers onto. I colored a few rhinestones I've had forever yellow with copics to match the color scheme of my card and completed the look with a ribbon recycled from a cookie basket and a (creepy) coffee filter sunflower made by me ! Hope this wasn't an overload but I was just so super excited to be back home, and I've got the cardst to prove it :)
