TGF Preview Day 3: Sing Hello

Last day of previews before the big blog hop! If you haven't been following along you can stop by The Greeting Farm's blog and start from the beginning of the previews to absorb maximum awesome adorableness! If you have been following along you know this is the last but not least set in the release (which will be in stores on the 15th!) Today's clear set is called Sing Hello and it may well be my favorite of all three!

I used a no line watercolor technique and my distress markers to give this little cutie pie a soft look. The papers I used are actually scraps of paper that I stamped the little stocking from the set in a repeating pattern and added shadows and light with my copic markers and a white gel pen. The candy cane striped paper was made by using a ruler, a versamark pen and white embossing powder, fun right?  The dies I used are spellbinders lacy circle and lala land crafts stitched circles. I used my TH spun sugar distress ink to ink around the edges of the die. The best part about these adorable little sets? I forgot to mention, they all come with their own dies, so no more fussy cutting! The sentiment I used is actually made up of two separate sentiments included in this stamp set, combined to make one adorable new sentiment that goes so well with this adorable kiddo. TGF Preview day 2: Let it Snow

Can you feel it guys? The excitement in the air, the buzz that comes knowing winter is only a hop skip and a jump away? Can't stand the wait? Well I've got great news, another wintery preview and the best news is that you won't even need to wait till Christmas to get your hands on these awesome little clear sets. Excited yet? Well wait no longer, here's my preview for you guys of the new Let it Snow Clear set from The Greeting Farm!

Isn't this little polar bear just the cuddliest thing you've ever seen? I wanted to keep his coloring soft so I pulled out my distress markers and watercolored this little guy. After adding a bit of diamond glaze to the cocoa in his cup and his adorable little pink nose I decided something was missing still. I stamped a little hat from the same set onto a small piece of watercolor paper, watercolored it with my distress inks also, fussy cut it out and adhered it with a dot of diamond glaze. As usual, I couldn't resist adding a bit of sparkly cheer, so I added stickles to the white parts of the little hat and my wink of stella brush pen for a subtle shimmer on his scarf. These new releases are seriously making me excited for the winter season, even though I actually HATE the cold, crazy huh? See you guys tomorrow for one last preview before the blog hop!

Shaking Things Up

Happy hump day bloggers, have I got a treat for you! I've been having a bit of a creative block lately and I finally figured out why, I've been wanting to make a shaker card for forever and didn't have the supplies I needed so I'd been forcing myself to make other stuff. As you crafty folks probably know, creativity can't be forced so I've been bummed out and hating just about everything I make. I finally got a chance to make a shaker though, and a baby themed card using the baby fox from the new Cuddly Thanks clear set from The Greeting Farm seemed perfect, especially delicately waterecolored.

For my first shaker in years, it turned out pretty well, I may have gone overboard with the sequins so next time I'll just stick to two colors at most. I may even watercolor the baby fox in a cute color like  a soft pink or blue next time to match even more. Because the paper had all those different colors, I figured at least most of those colors should go into the shaker window...I was wrong lol! I plan to keep practicing my shaker cards cause this one gave me a really hard time putting it together as well as trying to get a good picture (the lighting in my craft room kinda sucks!) If I stand it up, all the shakies fall to the bottom, if I lay it down the colors aren't as true and you can't see the sparkle of the glitter as well either. Once again I heat embossed the image onto watercolor paper in white embossing powder and watercolored using my TH distress markers. I love this technique because I'm not the best at watercolor but the raised edges of the embossed image helps the water and ink stay in its own section without much work on my part. I highly recommend this technique for those just starting out with this medium. Well that's all for now my crafty friends, see you next time! Pretty as a Princess

Happy Monday, hope you guys had an awesome weekend! If you're anything like me, it ended all too soon. I wish hubby could take a day or two off mid week but then I would never get any crafting done. Alas, he's off on another week long training and I'm here with our youngest daughter *sigh* what's a poor gal to do? I'll tell you what, WATERCOLOR! And that is precisely what I've been up to. I was so in love with the way my princess journal turned out, that I decided to make a card in the same fashion but with different colors, tell me what you guys think

SSSC no3 Slumber

See what did I tell ya, gorgeous in any color scheme! Once again I started by heat embossed little Slumber onto some Canson 140# cold pressed watercolor paper using white embossing powder. Of course I used my TH distress markers to watercolor the image, finishing it off with a little clear wink of stella. The dies I used are corner hearts and stitched circles from la la land crafts (used for the banner as well), and Spellbinders lacy circles. I finally caved in and bought some sequins, I really do love them, they are a fab addition to any type of card for just the right amount of sparkle without being over the top, or filling for a super fun shaker. I admit I was hesitant for a while about buying sequins because they seem to be the latest trend in paper crafting and who knows how long those will last right? How often do you still see enamel dots? EXACTLY! I refused adamantly to hop on board the sequin express because when I finally hopped on board with enamel dots, they were history :'( The good news is I never wasted money buying them because I found a tutorial online for DIY ones but that's another story! I decided if I was gonna give sequins a shot I'd be smart about it, enter Doodlebug Designs Rainbow assortment pack! This little set is awesome, it comes with a great variety of 12 different color families, each individually bottled, can you say genius?! The bottles included are smaller than the tubes of sequins sold individually by the same company I believe. Since I just got the package I plan to order the larger tubes as I run low on the smaller one of that color, IF I use them that often. My local stores don't sell these so I found mine on Amazon. I did go out and buy some acetate so be looking out for a shaker card or two soon also! WARNING acetate is a bit on the pricey side, roughly about $1 per 8x10 sheet, I did NOT know that! So any time you can salvage the clear plastic from packaging and set it to the side trust me, DO IT! That way you'll always have a cost efficient option should you ever choose to make your own shaker! Farm Fresh Friday: Embossing

Happy Farm Fresh Friday peoples! We've had quite a week over at The Greeting Farm and we've had a few winners so if you haven't already done so, stop by and make sure you weren't one of the lucky winners, you don't wanna miss your prize right? Now lets get down to business, this week's FFF challenge where the name of the game is Embossing (wet or dry). To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what 'wet' embossing is :D so I stuck with what I know and heat embossed the heck outta some watercolor paper and a few dies, check it out

SSSC no.3 Slumber

This is seriously one of those projects I wish I had bothered to take a before picture for. What started off as an atrocious lime green monstrosity is now a journal fit for a princess...or me! Now, I certainly don't have anything against the color lime green, it's just not for everyone, me myself, I'm more of a pink gal. The first thing I had to do was change the color of the outside, and since this was a hard cover fabric type material, that wasn't hard. A few coats of pink acrylic paint did the trick. Once that dried I picked a sheet of pink zebra striped patterned paper (secured with a thin layer of diamond glaze) and wrapped a portion of the cover, tucking the edges on the inside and gluing them down with more diamond glaze. I then added lots of different girly-licious dies cut out of shimmery and sparkly pink and pearl papers. I also heat embossed a sentiment from my stash onto my banner (created using la la land stitched circles) that I thought matched my pretty princess perfectly. As this journal came together I knew exactly which TGF princess would take center stage, so while the glue was drying on my cute little sequins, I put my journal to the side and heat embossed SSSC no.3, Slumber, onto my watercolor paper, pulled out my TH distress markers and painted her to match. I also went in and added a bit of shimmer to her crown of flowers and parts of her outfit. I love using my TGF stamps for projects other than cards, they can be used for many different projects! I've had a bit of a creative block lately so I decided to give the cards a break and try something I haven't done in a while. Final Release Day Preview and a Hop!

Happy Friday everyone! The Greeting Farm has been showcasing their new May Release of some adorable clear stamps sets on the TGF Blog for the last 2 days. Ok since today is the last day of previews, NOW you can have a cuteness overload! Seriously, how stinkin cute are these two sets and can't you just see the little bears on a Mother's day card and the deer on a baby shower card? The ideas are only as endless as your imagination! For both my cards I wanted to keep the design simple, so as not to take away from the watercolor effect. I had a scrap of weathered wood looking paper from a while back and I just knew it would be a perfect fit for my little deer, especially with some enamel dots and a bit of matching twine. The sentiment that came with the set was too perfect to pass up so I stamped it in Rich cocoa memento ink right at the top. Just as with the previous releases, I heat embossed the images with white embossing powder and watercolored them up with my TH distress markers. Don't you just love the way the watercolors flow smoothly and create such a sharp contrast to the white outline? I went in with my E49 copic marker and added some color to the nose and eye of the deer, which to me made a huge difference. For the bears, I deliberately colored them completely different colors, to me it says love has no color...or at least that was my point :D. The Greeting Farm May Release: Day 2

So hopefully you guys have had a chance to look at the new release previews from day one right? Good! Then lets get on with it, are you ready for more cute??? Day two is sure to make you hop with delight! Introducing the next two sets, "Hoppy Hello" and "Cuddly Thanks"!

See super adorable right?! I could barely stand it when I first saw them and definitely could not wait to show you guys! For the cute little bunny I pulled out my copics. He was the perfect size to practice coloring fur and I had a ball. I paper pieced his scarf from a bit of chevron paper to match the strip I used on the top of my card to stamp the accompanying sentiment onto . I also used the butterfly and patch of grass that came with the set to make a simple little background. For the little fox, once again I heat embossed him in white onto a piece of water color paper along with the tree stump from the set and watercolored him with my TH distress markers. When he was all dry I ran him through my big shot machine using the coordinating dies to cut both images out. I used a small piece of foam tape to adhere the sleepy little cutie to the tree stump and give it a little dimension . I also stamped the hearts and accompanying sentiment onto a watercolored background I prepared just as I did for yesterday's cards. I think that little fox is my absolute favorite. Coincidentally he's also the first image I tried the watercoloring with white embossing powder as well as the first set of this release I inked up! The Greeting Farm May Release: Day 1

Happy Hump day farmers! Coming at you today is a little hump day treat in the form of a release preview!!! And what’s better than one treat? TWO! So what do you say, are you ready for today’s awesomely adorable and oh so sweet previews? Well the wait is over, let’s get this party started shall we?

Our first clear set of the preview is called “Tweety Pie” and it’s just as tweet as can be (see what I did there?) The second is a treat to satisfy any sweet tooth, the beyond cute clear set, “Happiest Bday”! There will be 6 new clear sets coming out this FRIDAY and all 6 have a coordinating DIE SET so you won’t have to fussy cut your stamps if you don’t want to!! And since I've been on a watercoloring kick lately, you bet your tweet frosting I watercolored the heck outta these sets, check it out!

Don't you love the way watercoloring looks paired up with white embossing powder? Its such a fun and unique look, I fell in love the first time I saw it and couldn't wait to give it a try! The backgrounds were created by using a technique I found here. It's super simple and comes out gorgeous every time. I honestly can't get enough of these sets and the fact that I didn't have to cut anything out by hand was a huge bonus! I was excited and sad when TGF came out with their coordinating cut files because my die cut machine doesn't have the ability to use them, so I was still stuck fussy cutting everything.With these adorable clear sets, All I had to do was emboss, watercolor, and run it through my big shot machine and voila! Singing the Blues

Happy Monday! The sun is shining and the temperature is finally up so my friends and I are going to take the kids for ice cream and a walk to burn off all that sugar. It may seem like my post title is misleading, but I mean blues as in the color. My mood is anything but blue today! Before I head out though, I wanted to share my latest card using another TGF cutie and my awesome TH distress markers

Roll Call Kit: Summer

How adorable right? I love this little cutie she reminds me so much of my youngest daughter, hair and all! My husband and I were expecting/ hoping for a boy but got a second, healthy happy 8.9 lb baby girl. Fast forward 5 years later and she's such a tomboy, hubby always jokes that he did get the boy he wanted lol! Her favorite color is blue, and since little Summer reminded me so much of my daughter, it seemed only right to color her outfit and background blue too. I wanted to give this stamp a darker skin tone than my usual distress watercolored images but couldn't find a tut anywhere for darker skin and distress markers so I had to experiment and play around with my colors until I got what I was looking for. I think it turned out great and I really love the background! And since I'm always looking for a good excuse to pull out my DIY enamel dots, they were the perfect embellishment to this simple CAS card. I absolutely love watercoloring, there are so many fun and simple techniques when it comes to watercoloring, it's become my go to medium of choice when I just want to relax or color for fun. I actually do this so much, I have a stash of watercolored backgrounds just waiting to be used on a card front! Mirror Mirror

Happy hump day bloggers! I haven't been blogging much because my ipad seems to be permanently attached to my hand as of late. Because my tablet can do so much, my laptop has been neglected, unfortunately, blogging using blogger isn't one of those many things my ipad can do so my blog has been neglected. Don't get me wrong, I've been crafting my little heart out just haven't had a chance to blog about my projects, you know what they say; out of sight out of mind. Speaking of, I decided to pull out some of my neglected stamps and give them new life using my TH distress markers. This was the stamp that convinced me to try out The Greeting Farm's Super Secret Stamp Club (SSSC)

SSSC no.1 "Fairest"

Like most of my watercolored images, I wanted to keep this card CAS because I didn't want the DP or embellishments to drown out or take the focus off the soft subtle watercolors. To create a no line look, I start by stamping the image in TH antique linen ink onto water color paper. Since it's a lighter color and it reacts really well with water, the lines disappear as I lay down my base color creating a great no line effect. Once the image is all painted, I go back in with my  clear wink of stella brush pen to add a little sparkle. After everything is dry I take my tea dye distress marker and use the fine tip to fill in the details washed out by my water coloring like eyes and eyebrows. It takes a little longer for me to watercolor than when I use my copics but I am OBSESSED with the softer look! Give it a try I'll bet you'll be addicted in no time!

Under the Sea

Happy Hump Day bloggers! I'm coming to you from the comforts of my couch underneath a heating blanket to ask: Do you remember when you were a kid and you got the toy of your dreams? Did you spend so long playing with it that everything else lay there forgotten? Well if the answer to my questions were yes, then you have a hint about my whereabouts lately! I've gotten a bit of happy mail and have spent the last few days crafting and creating and coloring and paper piecing and OMG where did November (and the first week of December) go?! I realized yesterday that although I've been making things I've been forgetting to share! This is partly because I have some big news for you guys...oh wait, you thought I meant now? Nope sorry! You'll just have to hang around a while to find out! With all these holiday cards and tags swimming around this time of year I decided to take a break and ride the waves with the SOG clear set Under the Sea Mae

SOG Under Sea Mae Clear Set

I actually won this set as part of my prize for being one of the lucky winners of the Digi Me contest that SOG had going on back in October. Not only did I win a $20 gift certificate to use in the stores, the best part is that I get to do a guest DT post featuring my digi for SOG!!!! How awesome is that?! I can't wait to see my idea turned into a digi by the talented Kristy Dalman! Haha you thought that was the surprise I mentioned earlier didn't you? Well its not, the best news is yet to come...but not today! To create this simple tag I stamped one of the gorgeous mermaids from the set onto watercolor paper using stayzon in Timber brown. I colored her using my distress markers and a few small watercolor paint brushes. Once the image was dry I went back over her tail and sea shells with my wink of stella clear brush pen (not sure if you guys can see the shimmer) and highlighted randomly throughout her hair also with the wink of stella. The background was created by rubbing a blue chak ink pad across a  memory box wave stencil on top of a light blueish green piece of cardstock. I then went back through with my white wink of stella brush pen and tried to add some detail to the waves along with a few bubbles. Last I adhered the clam accent stamps from the set to my tag using foam pop dots to give them some dimension with a few small pearls and a scrap of ribbon. I am LOVING my distress markers, they are a bit pricey but if you can find a good deal on them I highly recommend getting a few to try out. Also watching youtube videos and practice practice practice is helping me develop my technique. It may seem daunting at first, like you'll never get it but if you're patient and work at it you'll be so impressed you wont regret it. What techniques or products have you guys tried lately? De-stress with Distress

Hi there bloggers, still dealing with chilly weather and to be honest the snow is kind of growing on me. We got about 2 feet in one day and my girls are loving it! My oldest has had snow days back to back and today is a half day so I'm preparing for more fun in the snow. Rather than shoveling snow from my driveway, I sneaked away to my craft room and made one more quick card for this week's FFF challenge Holiday Cards over at The Greeting Farm, using Miko from the Roll Call Kit

Once again I used my Tim Holtz distress markers to watercolor the image (LOVE those things!) because practice makes perfect, right? I tend to focus so hard on getting my watercoloring so much that my stress seems to melt away, or at least fade them into the background. It truly is my newest form of stress relief and The Greeting Farm's images are perfect for practice because they are beautiful without adding too many tiny details and they have large faces and lots of hair. I stamped Miko in Timber Brown Stayzon ink on canson cold press watercolor paper. All the papers used for this card are from my stash. I confess to being a bit of a pack rat and a hoarder when it comes to my scrapbook supplies. When I have small scrap pieces left over I tend to store them in a ziplock baggie by color or them, that way when I need to layer or add accent, I can reach for one of the left over scraps rather than cut up another full piece. I paired together these three different papers (all originally from my LCS' open stock) and layered them onto a piece of Bazzill heavy weight card shoppe cardstock. The sentiment from The Greeting Farm's OA Lovey Dovey 4x6 set was stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa. The image took up quite a bit of room so I kept the embellishment simple, adding only a few enamel dots and a little ribbon. I adore Valentine's day so I absolutely could not pass up an opportunity to pull out my V day papers for a card challenge! Its actually super late here and I have a busy day today so I'll call it a night after I head over to sneak one more card in for the Farm Fresh Friday, See you guys tomorrow!

Happy Birthday Doll-ie

Happy Hump Day blogland! Its friggin cold here and I'm still getting used to the fluffy white stuff all over the place, especially having to stand in it while I wait for my oldest daughter to get on/off the school bus. You have no idea how grateful I am for those blessed days when hubby gets a late work call and gets the "privilege" of walking our little princess to the bus in the morning snow :D Today to contrast the monotone landscape outside, I have a fun birthday card using one of my favorite TGF cuties alongside one of my fave DCWV stacks for the Holiday Cards Challenge over at The Greeting Farm

Dollie With Cupcake

I won this cutie pie, or should I say cupcake, during a blog hop from TGF and hadn't found the inspiration to ink her up until the FFF challenge for holiday cards (birthdays count as holidays right???). I tried coloring her up with my copics but was not loving the way she turned out so I put this cutie away till I could find a special enough occasion or a paper that inspired me. While sorting through my paper stash I came across a stack that I absolutely had to have...and then barely used because it turned out I was only crazy about 1/4 of the papers in the whole pack -__-. Anywho, I knew this pad would be perfect for Ms Dollie so I made a quick simple card based on this week's Retro Sketch Challenge and watercolored Dollie with my Tim Holtz distress markers. To make sure Dollie was the center of attention I kept the embellishments simple, sticking to a few pearl flourishes, individual pearls and a piece of ribbon from my stash. I also added a bit of stickles to the pink areas of dollie's outfit and cupcake frosting to give it a little bling. I hope you guys are following my progress with the Tim Holtz markers and maybe even be a little inspired to try a few out for yourselves! Holiday Cheer

Hi guys, its getting close to that time of year where children (and adults!) get the gimmy gimmies for everything they see on TV and my two divas are no exception! With all the "I want" and "I need" we tend to get caught up and forget what this season is truly about; Giving, not receiving and spreading holiday cheer. Often, while looking at other blogs for inspiration, I get bummed out about a lot of things I don't have or that I could use, that I never stopped to think about all the things I DO have so today's card is full of sparkly holiday cheer and making what you have look good!

Isn't this fold adorable? I found the tutorial on the Splitcoast Stampers Youtube channel here. It's called a pop up book card and I LOVE it! The dimensions on the tutorial were for a 6x6 square card but follow the link below the video and the splitcoast stampers website gives you the measurements to make an A2 pop up book card, which is what I used. It came out pretty cute for my first attempt and I think I'll use this fold more often. I watercolored both images with my Tim Holtz distress markers and added sparkle with diamond stickles. I love my distress markers they truly are awesome and the colors blend and react with water effortlessly. They're so much fun to play with but they can be temperamental. My only complaint would be that the browns tend to have a greenish hue, so I may try out a few reinkers for my brown shades since I hear people have had better results without the green. The sentiment on the front is from the DCWV card sentiment rub-on stack and the one on the inside is from The Greeting Farm's Cheeky Xmas 4x6 set. TGF is spreading holiday cheer with the FFF challenge Holiday Cards. The best part? It's not even a Christmas exclusive holiday challenge, its whatever holiday you feel like making a card for, so expect a few lovey dovey and oh-so-out-of-season V-day cards this week out of me. Clean and Simple...Sort Of

Are there certain types of cards or projects that no matter how hard you try you just can't seem to wrap your brain around them? With me, CAS cards are my worst nightmare because no matter what I do I can't make them look good without looking too plain or more often than not, clean and simple becomes cluttered and over the top. It feels like forever since I inked up any of my TGF stamps so I attempted to force myself out of my comfort zone and participate in this week's FFF Challenge Clean and Simple over at The Greeting Farm. Since I adore stamps that don't have a specific theme, I loved the idea of using Maria from the Roll Call kit (retired sorry!) to make this quick card

I colored up little Maria using my TH distress markers and added a bit of shimmer with my wink of stella brush pen. The sentiment I used is also from The Greeting Farm from the Cheeky X-mas set (also retired) stamped in the same distress marker I used to color Maria's little dress. I know I need to practice my CAS cards, but they're just soooo hard. I'm addicted to bling and embellishments, is there a meeting for that sort of thing???? What about you ladies out there, any specific type of card, project, or medium you struggle with? We Go Together Like...

Hi guys! Feeling great on this gorgeous Saturday morning and I realized I hadn't participated at all this month in the Some Odd Girl Linky party for October! Honestly, I think I have birthday brain, this is the first birthday of mine I've been excited about in years so it's kind of taking over my thoughts the entire month! I also began getting presents early (hubby found a great deal on something I've wanted for forever!) so that didn't help the birthday brain! What was this dream gift you ask? TA-DA

The entire 49 piece set of Tim Holtz Distress markers!!!!  I've been practicing with them since they came in the mail and OMG *swoon* Now don't get me wrong, they can't replace my first love, copic markers, but they definitely run a close second! I struggled with the right about of water and ruining a few pieces of paper but I'm learning fast. I would like to try a few different types of paper, so far I seem to get the best results on bazzill heavy weight card shoppe cardstock in the color marshmallow as long as I don't over saturate the paper. Now what goes together better than distress markers and water? SOG stamps and me? Milk and cookies? How about all of the above, in a cute quick CAS card using the SOG clear stamp set Milk n Cookies, water colored with my distress markers and all ready to join in the October Linky party

I tried to keep this card simple, using only a few enamel dots and some doodling around the edges with a white gel pen. Normally I hate doing CAS cards but the milk n cookie are so adorable, they don't really need much embellishment or DP. Love how this turned out and I can't wait to use my markers on more of my SOG clear stamps. Ugh I wish I had a laser printer so that I could also color my digis as well but all I have is an inkjet for now, *sigh* dare to dream right? See you guys around
