Holiday Cheer

Hi guys, its getting close to that time of year where children (and adults!) get the gimmy gimmies for everything they see on TV and my two divas are no exception! With all the "I want" and "I need" we tend to get caught up and forget what this season is truly about; Giving, not receiving and spreading holiday cheer. Often, while looking at other blogs for inspiration, I get bummed out about a lot of things I don't have or that I could use, that I never stopped to think about all the things I DO have so today's card is full of sparkly holiday cheer and making what you have look good!

Card Front: Holiday Anya 4
Card Center: OA Surprise (Amelia)

Isn't this fold adorable? I found the tutorial on the Splitcoast Stampers Youtube channel here. It's called a pop up book card and I LOVE it! The dimensions on the tutorial were for a 6x6 square card but follow the link below the video and the splitcoast stampers website gives you the measurements to make an A2 pop up book card, which is what I used. It came out pretty cute for my first attempt and I think I'll use this fold more often. I watercolored both images with my Tim Holtz distress markers and added sparkle with diamond stickles. I love my distress markers they truly are awesome and the colors blend and react with water effortlessly. They're so much fun to play with but they can be temperamental. My only complaint would be that the browns tend to have a greenish hue, so I may try out a few reinkers for my brown shades since I hear people have had better results without the green. The sentiment on the front is from the DCWV card sentiment rub-on stack and the one on the inside is from The Greeting Farm's Cheeky Xmas 4x6 set. TGF is spreading holiday cheer with the FFF challenge Holiday Cards. The best part? It's not even a Christmas exclusive holiday challenge, its whatever holiday you feel like making a card for, so expect a few lovey dovey and oh-so-out-of-season V-day cards this week out of me. What will you guys come up with?

Snips and Snails

Today is a beautiful warm day here and it's making me realize just how much I'm gonna miss Texas with its scorching heat and unpredictable, changeable, downright bipolar weather. I'm sad to be leaving but at the same time I'm super excited to have my family back under one roof again, even if it's not the roof we're used to! I digress, today I decided to use Oliver from my prize set, OA Surprise, since I used msAmelia yesterday. I think I'm slowly improving on my masculine cards but you be the judge, so without further ado, here you go

Oliver OA Surprise

I once again used the kraft green and white but with a little...hmmm...I'm not sure if this is teal, aqua, or simply blue green! Whatever the color, it looked awesome with the kraft green and white color scheme! Once again I stamped this little guy in desert sand memento ink to give that no line look. I inked the edges with Tim Holtz walnut stain distress ink for definition. A bit of twine, a button and a couple of rhinestones and this little guy was complete in no time! I'm entering this adorable little man in TGF'S FFF Challenge Use Twine/Ribbon as well as this week's Retro Sketch Challenge. Hope u guys like it, see you again soon!

Lucky Me

Hi guys! Sorry I've been MIA but I had a good reason this time, scout's honor! As some of you may remember, DH joined the military and is now coming to the end of his AIT which means he has his orders. For a family born and raised in Texas heat, our first assignment is something out of a nightmare, the chilly climate of NY! Needless to say, Texas is a good distance from NY so I decided that I would spend some time with my family before the big move. Last week was spring break for my oldest DD so no school for a week was a perfect opportunity to head home...and get some crafting done ^.^ so home I went! Copics, DP, stickles, my TGF darlings of course, and my handy dandy atg gun in tow I was ready...until I realized I left my cardstock and pare trimmer o_O. If I hadn't been having such a good time with family, this would have been a depressing and I may have gone through  withdrawals lol! Anyway now I'm back at home and of course I had to sneak in a card ASAP to include in this week's FFF, Use Twine/Ribbon as well as The ABC Challenge H is for Hair. Lucky me, when I arrived at home I found my prize from a previous win and I just couldn't wait to ink this lil cutie up! I love the way that kraft cardstock looks great with almost any color sonic honor of St Patty's Day I decided to give green kraft and white a shot and here's how it turned out:

Amelia TGF's OA Surprise

This was soooo much fun to color! I do believe ms Amelia will be making her way onto the front of many more projects isn't she fabulous?! I wanted to do a no line technique so I stamped her in memento desert sand. The DP and ribbon are both something from my stash and the sentiment is part of TGF's Delicate Words die set (not sure if still available!). I gave the whole card a healthy stickling ( my signature!) and added a touch of bling for a lil somethin' extra! Hope you guys enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it and thanks for stopping by!
