Farm Fresh Friday: Embossing

Happy Farm Fresh Friday peoples! We've had quite a week over at The Greeting Farm and we've had a few winners so if you haven't already done so, stop by and make sure you weren't one of the lucky winners, you don't wanna miss your prize right? Now lets get down to business, this week's FFF challenge where the name of the game is Embossing (wet or dry). To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what 'wet' embossing is :D so I stuck with what I know and heat embossed the heck outta some watercolor paper and a few dies, check it out

SSSC no.3 Slumber

This is seriously one of those projects I wish I had bothered to take a before picture for. What started off as an atrocious lime green monstrosity is now a journal fit for a princess...or me! Now, I certainly don't have anything against the color lime green, it's just not for everyone, me myself, I'm more of a pink gal. The first thing I had to do was change the color of the outside, and since this was a hard cover fabric type material, that wasn't hard. A few coats of pink acrylic paint did the trick. Once that dried I picked a sheet of pink zebra striped patterned paper (secured with a thin layer of diamond glaze) and wrapped a portion of the cover, tucking the edges on the inside and gluing them down with more diamond glaze. I then added lots of different girly-licious dies cut out of shimmery and sparkly pink and pearl papers. I also heat embossed a sentiment from my stash onto my banner (created using la la land stitched circles) that I thought matched my pretty princess perfectly. As this journal came together I knew exactly which TGF princess would take center stage, so while the glue was drying on my cute little sequins, I put my journal to the side and heat embossed SSSC no.3, Slumber, onto my watercolor paper, pulled out my TH distress markers and painted her to match. I also went in and added a bit of shimmer to her crown of flowers and parts of her outfit. I love using my TGF stamps for projects other than cards, they can be used for many different projects! I've had a bit of a creative block lately so I decided to give the cards a break and try something I haven't done in a while. Farm Fresh Friday: May Flowers!

Happy Friday bloggers! Today we have a new challenge over at The Greeting Farm  and this week's theme is May flowers! Great compliment to last month's first challenge, April showers, right? I couldn't wait to share this card with you guys because as soon as I heard the challenge I knew exactly which stamp I wanted to use, curious? Here she is!

Roll Call Kit; Nahla

Isn't she super cute? I loved this little cutie pie since I first saw her and couldn't wait to color up and give her the cutest curly hair and big brown eyes! She is actually one of the main reasons I purchased the roll call kit in the first place, I mean I REALLY wanted to color that hair lol! The paper had been in my stash for about a year in a DCWV paper pad I'd gotten for just $4. It has some of the most gorgeous patterns and color combos that just sing spring, so I just knew this paper would be the perfect compliment to little Nahla. I colored her up on cryogen white cardstock using my copic markers as usual with a little orange stickles here and there for some sparkle. The flowers and ribbon are from my stash and for the centers, I colored a few rhinestones with my copics to match my paper and image. I thought the sentiment from The Greeting Farm's Flutter Heart clear set was perfect and adorable with Nahla. I added a bit of stickles to the sentiment as well and a die cut heart corner from La La Land Crafts and this cutie was ready to be mailed to my mommy! I have a few more special ladies I need to make cards for so I'll get back to that and hopefully do a lot more sharing in the coming week. My hubby is getting ready for a long deployment, so in addition to not feeling well and having to prepare for him not being around, there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day! Thank you guys for sticking around, I'll get better about blogging again soon. I have a few cards I've been working on and haven't had the chance to share so I'll be working on that too! Farm Fresh Friday: Pick 3

Howdy! Wow another week has come and gone and once again Friday sneaked up on me!Already it's time for a new challenge at The Greeting Farm and this week's theme is "Pick 3". We want you guys to pull out those awesome embellishments, pick at least 3, and pile 'em on! Fun right? This week's weather has finally been warm and sunny so I've been spending a lot more time out and about instead of cooped up and shut in trying to keep warm. Not only that, my oldest daughter was in her first school play last night so we've been practicing and getting ready all week! As a result, my blog (and my poor craft supplies) have been neglected! Don't worry though guys and gals, I'm a bit scatterbrained and horrible at time management, but as I adjust to the change of season, I promise things will get better! In celebration of the incoming warm weather, I decided to do another fun summer-ish card and here it is:

Summer Ian digi

Isn't he just the cutest?! I love this little guy and he looks to be ready to enjoy some sun and sand or party at a pool, doesn't he? He's available now in the store, and the best part? There's no waiting for him to arrive in the mail. You can start coloring him up today 'cause he's a digi, how awesome is that?! I love the convenience of not having to wait for my new stamps, don't you? The 3 embellishments I chose for the challenge were the tiny clothes pins, jute twine, and a few rhinestones here and there. The papers used for this beachy boy comes from the same pad I used in last week's card, The Pier by Paper Crate, with a little waterfall stickles to make the waves pop a little more. I use the La la Land stitched circles die, with a little powder blue ink around the edges. I inked the edges of the card in some TH walnut stain distress ink and this cutie was ready for a swim (not really of course, the card isn't actually waterproof lol!). Farm Fresh Friday: Oh So Girly

Greetings guys and gals! Its Friday so you know what that means right? That's right, a new Farm Fresh Friday challenge for The Greeting Farm so join us for a fun and "Oh So Girly" challenge. So pull out your lace and frill, your pinks and pastels, your bling and sparkle and get girly with us this week! Here's my card for the challenge:

Frappi Anya Exclusive

Isn't she a doll? I love how Springy her outfit looks, not hot enough for shorts and a tank, not cool enough for long sleeves and pants, but somewhere just in between! To me, that's my perfect weather and she looks comfy cute which is just my style! I colored Frappi on cyrogen white cardstock with my copic markers  and paper pieced the teal parts of her outfit from a piece of shimmery lightweight paper I'd had in my stash forever. I wanted to give this card a beachy feel so I used a weathered wood looking DP paired with some ocean waves from Crate Paper's "The Pier" 6x6 pad. Layered on top of some bazzill card shoppe cardstock in robin's egg and paired with a few cork stickers, ribbon, and a die cut sentiment from The Greeting Farm's Delicate Words set (retired), and my card was ready to me feel like Olaf singing about summer! Farm Fresh Friday: April Showers

Happy Friday guys and gals! Today we kick off a new challenge, the first Farm Fresh Friday of April and I get to write it so be sure to check it out! Growing up I hated when it rained because I was stuck inside waiting, hoping, wishing it would stop. My only comfort was the old saying "April showers bring May flowers" knowing something beautiful would come out of something that made me so miserable. Fast forward to adult me and there's nothing I love more than a good summer thunderstorm, go figure huh? To show my love of the rain, and this challenge theme, "April Showers" I made an adorable coaster using one of my all time favorite TGF stamps

I bought a set of blank cork coasters from the dollar bin at my local craft store but up until recently I had no idea what to do with them. A few months back I bought a pack of adhesive backed cork paper (by DCWV) and found that cork takes copic markers very well and that's when it hit me, stamp on the cork and color it with my copics! I absolutely love finding new materials to stamp on and this cork was no exception. I got a clean impression with little effort and the ink I used (memento rich cocoa) didn't bleed even though it was water based, which was very important because stazon would have ruined my copic nibs. After coloring Riley, I took my N5 copic marker and a ruler and began to draw a rainy background. to make it look more authentic I added a few white highlights with a gel pen and some stickles here and there to make the rain stand out more. Last, I inked around the edges with some grey pigment ink to add to the stormy feel. I love how this turned out and she may be the first of a new set of coasters. Though these will probably be more for decoration because I'm not sure how to seal cork and my supplies aren't exactly water proof but still, isn't it gorgeous? Farm Fresh Friday

TGIF peeps! Still under the weather here so I gotta keep this post short and get back to bed. One thing is for certain though, under the weather or not, the snow is melting the birds are back and spring is most definitely here. With the pretty blue sky returning, we just couldn't help ourselves over at The Greeting Farm so this week's challenge is Spring Colors! So even though the temperature is still below freezing, here's my fun bright card to welcome the change of season

Garden Anya

I used Garden Anya paired with some flowery springy paper from Doodlebug designs called Hello Spring (go figure huh?) and a new climbing vine die from cottage cutz I got specifically for the spring season, isn't it adorable? I colored Ms Anya up on Cryogen white cardstock with my copic markers and some stickles glitter glue. The sentiment I used is part of the Delicate Words die set released by The Greeting Farm a few years back and its also been stickled like crazy. I used a scrap of purple ribbon from my stash and a flower that I recolored with my copics to match, for a little embellishment. Getting Green

Happy St Paddy's day all! I'm feeling a little under the weather thanks to some cooties going around at my hubby's job. He was considerate enough to bring home plenty for me, kind of him wasn't it? He succeeded in giving myself and both of our daughters his cold/flu so no outings for me. Since I'm inside for the day I figured I would do my favorite thing ever, get some crafting done! In honor of St. Patrick's day and this week's Farm Fresh Friday Challenge, Luck of the Irish, I made a card using green and white along with a darling digi you may recognize

Dollie Digi

I printed Dollie out on cryogen white cardstock and colored her up with my copic markers. OMG that wild hair of hers gave me the blues trying to color it but I love the way it came out in the end which is why patience is a virtue I suppose! I was a bit disappointed in how bright her dress came out. It's like highlighter green when I wanted more of a pale spring green like the DP I used but I couldn't get the right combo with my limited number of green copics. I really need to expand my greens, at the moment they, along with my YG range are the smallest sets I own, but green is seldom used by me so I never think about it until I need them :D I finished this card off with a bit of green and white twine and a few enamel dots for embellishment. The sentiment used is from Lawn Fawn, stamped in tuxedo black memento ink. This gal definitely won't be getting any pinches for not wearing green! Farm Fresh Friday

Happy Farm Fresh Friday my crafty pals! With St. Patrick's day right around the corner we over at The Greeting Farm wanted to show our St Paddy's day spirit with this week's challenge, Luck of the Irish! So go ahead and get green with us and if shamrocks and gold coins aren't your thing, don't worry its not necessary. The rules of this challenge are a color combo, all you have to do is use green and white to enter. I love the idea of getting to use my much neglected green copic marker combos so all that was left to do was decide which fabby TGF stamp I wanted for the challenge. I ended up not being able to decide, so I created two different cards using 2 different TGF stamps so you're in for a double treat!

Now I'm sure you probably noticed that these stamps don't look completely familiar and you're right. I love the versatility of TGF stamps because they can be tweaked to fit themes without changing the fabulousness of the stamp. To make Slumber fit the St. Patrick's day theme I wanted for my card, I wiped away the roses in her hair with a baby wipe and drew in a few clovers instead with a copic multiliner. For Dollie, I wiped away the cupcake on her plate and replaced it with a big foaming mug of beer... butterbeer! Haha no alcohol for my TGF cuties :D this big HP fan gave one of her fave Dollie darlings a big cold glass of butterbeer and a clover in her hair instead of the heart that was there originally. Doesn't she make an adorable waitress? Both images were colored up with my copic markers on Cryogen White cardstock. I added eucalyptus stickles here and there for some much needed sparkle. The sentiments are from Lawn Fawn and the dies used were a combination of LaLa Land Crafts (heart ribbon corner and stitched circles) and Poppy dies (banner). The shamrocks were created by taking the hearts left over from the heart ribbon corner die and arranging them in the shape of a clover and adding stickles. FFF and a Very Special Birthday

Happy Friday guys! To think I almost missed the chance to tell our talented and creative Marie, creator of The Greeting Farm stamps, Happy Birthday! To celebrate her special day our Farm Fresh Friday challenge theme is Birthdays and I have a card made especially for Marie using none other than Birthday Anya I

I used one of my very first stamps I ever purchased by Marie, I thought this cheerful cutie would be perfect for the occasion. I colored her up using my copic markers on a piece on a sample of heavenly white cardstock sent by the paper temptress with my order of cryogen white cardstock. I loved the heavenly white so much I wish I could return the cryogen white for a pack of it instead! The texture was super smooth and the color was extremely white so my copic colors showed up really vibrant and bright. The papers I used are from doodlebug designs sugar shoppe collection (one of my favorites). I only wanted a little embellishment to let the image take center stage so I used a bit of baker's twine and a few enamel dots. I drew a banner with a copic multiliner and used a lawn fawn happy birthday sentiment inside it, fussy cut it out and mounted it to my card with foam dots. Day 3 Release Preview and a FFF!

Happy Farm Fresh Friday farmers! You know what that means, a new challenge and some good ol inspiration from TGF's fabulous DT. But wait, you're in for a double treat, two for the price of one because we also have our final release preview today too! So break out your ribbons and lace and get girly cause this week's FFF is Ribbons or Lace! I was super excited about the double day so I decided to double up and do two projects, one a bit different than a card. To show just how versatile TGF stamps are, I have a project to show you as well as a card. Ladies and gents, last but most certainly not least in line up full of regalia and charm, I give you the Dollie grown ups won't want to wait to play with, Dollie With Kitty

For the card I used some Bo Bunny paper from the Enchanted garden collection and colored Dollie up with my copics. to match the distressed look of the papers I used the deckled edge rectangles from spellbinders and inked it with some TH distress ink in the color Old Paper. Sticking with the Farm Fresh Friday theme of Ribbons or Lace I used a lacy doily paper punch and also a strip of purple ribbon. As mentioned, you can use either or you don't have to incorporate both but I thought they complimented each other so well. A few pearls and this card was good to go! I had so much fun figuring out how to color this stamp's curly locks and where the shadows and shine should lie. I don't think I've had that much fun coloring in my adult life! For my second project, I decided to give it an Alice in Wonderland look to fit my Queen of Hearts Frou Frou card from earlier this week, fun huh? I also used this as an excuse to give my prismas some exercise since I don't really use pencils. If you'd like to know how I created this ornament I will do a post explaining my technique pretty soon so say tuned! Farm Fresh Friday: Pinky Pink

Happy Farm Fresh Friday bloggers! Today I'm sharing with you guys a card that says a lot without saying much at all. What do I mean you ask? Well the other day my friends and I decided to be each others' Valentine since all of our husbands would be gone and we planned an elaborate girls day out including shopping and dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. We decided that our kids should look festive so we bought them all matching valentine-y outfits.... or rather we tried. Turns out Valentine's day is apparently only for girls, the boy's departments had NOT ONE single Vday shirt! We were so upset and went on a rant that ended in a fit of giggles from passers by which ended up making us laugh as well. Long story short, we settled on a nice red collared button down that her gorgeous little blue eyed son looked super handsome in, amid the girls in their various red and or pink ensembles, with the decision to teach him to be a true gentleman as well as cultivate an early love of V day ;) To celebrate our decision I used Heart Ian for this week's Pinky Pink Challenge

Doesn't he look just dapper in that pink scarf? I've always loved the combination of pinks and blues and this seemed like a perfect time to pull out some cutesy heart paper and puffy heart stickers to match. I colored Ian with my copic markers and used my wink of stella brush pen to add some sparkle to the little heart he's carrying (and forced myself to leave it at that). The sentiment is from  The Greeting Farm's Flutter Heart clear set, stamped in versamark ink and heat embossed with black embossing powder. Since this is a guy card, I wanted to keep it simple so I refrained from covering it with sparkles and flowers and added a strip of blue paper to bring out the image and sentiment and really pop against the pink. Love this Digi!

Hi there bloggers! Long time no see right, or is it just me? I promise I'm working on getting back to blogging more often like I used to. I've noticed that I have a bad habit of creating projects and then forgetting to blog them and I've really been on a Valentine kick so this week (probably this month) will be mostly centered around that lovey dovey holiday! Still playing along with TGF's Roses are Red Farm Fresh Friday challenge theme, today's card features Valentine Anya digi

This is one of my absolute favorite digis and as I've said before, I wish and hope with fingers crossed that Marie will be kind enough to release her in rubber as well! I really had a lot of fun coloring her up with my copics and I can see a vast improvement with my hair coloring so practice really does make perfect! The sentiment is from the Dollie with Hearts set (now available in the store) and the heart dies are the Memory Box precious hearts die. The papers I used today are from the doodlebug designs sweetheart 12x12 kit and the little roses, I ordered from I am roses. I always buy different flowers in only white and then use my distress markers, copics, or twinkling H2Os to color them to match my projects. Whenever possible I try to save $$$ because card making gets expensive really quickly, especially with something new around every corner! What are some crafty money savers you use? FFF Roses Are Red (farm post)

TGIF farm friends, this week we have a "lovely" challenge, that is near and dear to my heart for you guys to play along over at The Greeting Farm and I seriously cannot wait to see what you guys come up with! This week's challenge theme is Roses are Red, how romantic right? As I mentioned before, Valentine's day is my absolute favorite holiday so the month of February may as well be Valentine's month in my book :D Since one of my absolute favorite crafty gals is the super talented Rosemary Bridges, its only fitting that I let one of her awesome picture frames inspire my project this week, themed after my favorite holiday. 50's Sweetheart Digi

I used so many random paper scraps I'd saved that I couldn't begin to tell you where they came from so I wont even try! The adorable image in the lower right corner is a digi available in the TGF Store called 50's Sweetheart and I love it! I've been practicing my coloring of hair especially and I think it really shows. I've also been experimenting with different color combos for skintones. The sentiments in the center are from various TGF sets and the flowers are from my stash, all heat embossed with white embossing powder. The gorgeous paper flowers are from iamroses.com and I used my distress markers to dye them the colors I needed to match my frame.All the different dies I used are from various companies, the heart and flourish are from Memory Box, the heart banner is from La La Land Crafts, and the butterfly is Joy! crafts. Farm Fresh Friday: Boys Only!

TGIF fellow farmers! The last week has been really stressful on me and I'm glad its coming to a close. Between getting over a cold while nursing two sick babies back to health, coping with a death in my family, and preparing my hubby for a mini deployment cycle, I've been super preoccupied leaving almost no time for crafting! I did however manage to squeeze in a cute little card for this week's Farm Fresh Friday challenge, Boys Only, over at The Greeting Farm.

Roll Call Kit (Dylan)

Both this little cutie and the sentiment was part of one of the large 8x10 rubber sets released by The Greeting Farm called the Roll Call Kit, which features 10 adorable full size stamps of the Wild Sprouts line. I colored Dylan using my copic markers on Xpress it blending card. The papers I used are from the Hip Hop Hooray 6x6 doodlebug designs 6x6 pad layered on top of bazzill heavy weight card shoppe cardstock in the color whirlypop. I heat embossed the sentiment in white EP and added a few enamel dots and a piece of orange and white bakers twine. The sketch I used for the layout was from the Retrosketches challenge blog. Since the challenge was Boys Only, I contained my urge to add stickles and wink of stella to every inch of this card, believe me, it drove me NUTS! Farm Fresh Friday with The Greeting Farm

Happy Friday blogland! I apologize for the serious lack of posts but I've been feeling a bit under the weather while also having two sick babies as well so things have been a bit crazy around my house. With my girls finally back to their happy healthy selves, I've finally started to rest and recover. But enough about me, hope you guys had a great week and what better way to end the week than to kick off another Farm Fresh Friday challenge with The Greeting Farm? This week's challenge is Get Wordy, meaning just that, you add a sentiment to your card or project! Since this was a nice simple theme I thought I'd make a nice simple card using one of my super secret stamp club cuties, #9 Day Out Anya

Since it seems to be the latest trend, since my watercoloring has been a little neglected, and since it looked so stinkin' fun, I tried my hand at making my own water colored background. Guess what, super easy and I loved it! I used my twinkling H2O watercolor paints and the background came out super shimmery oh I wish you guys could see the shimmer! And once it dried I mounted it to a piece of Bazzill heavyweight card shoppe cardstock, stamped my sentiment and called it done....But since it looked so plain, I colored up the adorable Day Out Anya with my copics, fussy cut her out and adhered her to my card and she fit in perfectly! Because I wanted the background to be the focus I didn't add any extra embellishments, just a bit of wink of stella to her outfit. Farm Fresh Friday

TGIF friends! Not just because this week seemed to drag by, but because it's time for a new Farm Fresh Friday Challenge over at The Greeting Farm, I'm die-ing to show you guys my card! Lol, sorry I couldn't help myself as the name of the game is Die-alicious, meaning you have to use 2 or more dies on your card/project, hence the reason for my bad pun! Today I'm using my newest favorite from the January release, Dollie With Hearts:

Dollie With Hearts

I loved this challenge because it gave me an excuse to go a little overboard with my small, slowly growing, collection of dies! Many of my dies are lovey/valentine themed, and since Valentine's day is my favorite holiday this card came together quickly. I colored up Dollie using my copic markers and a little stickles here and there to add some sparkle to her outfit. The white chevron on kraft paper is by doodlebug designs (got mine on e-bay) and the white paper is a scrap of Georgia Pacific white cardstock #60 (walmart) ran through an embossing folder I've had for ages. The dies I used are an assortment of brands. The heart banner die is by LaLa Land crafts, the pennant banner is a Poppy Stamps die, the hearts are Memory Box, the doily is from Stampin Up (retired) and the arrows, lacy oval and oval dies are Spellbinders. Last but not least the 'Smile' sentiment die is by The Greeting Farm (retired, sorry!) from a set called delicate words. By the time I'd finished loading on dies my card was starting to look a bit busy so I kept the embellishments simple by adding only a few small pearls here and there. I usually don't use more than two dies on one card but this was a fun change for me trying to make all the elements come together without over crowding and overshadowing the image I used.
