Fun with the Flu

Hi guys! I meant to get this post up yesterday but wasn't able to get out of bed. Remember those cooties I mentioned earlier this week? Well it turned out to be the flu and I woke up with a temperature of 103 and chills so I was quarantined to the bed all day, by order from the hubby who by the way did NOT appreciate my sneaky crafting Tuesday :D What can I say, I'm a bit stubborn! Today I have as promised (though a little later than planned) the fourth and final piece of my coaster set and the big reveal on which Dollie I chose, are you ready? Ta-daaaa!:

Dollie With Ice Cream

and a picture of the whole completed set together

Since I've already explained how I make these coasters, this post was mainly just to show you guys the last in the set and which Dollie I decided to use to complete it. If you missed out on the how to explanation you can read it here! I was very excited that I was finally able to get a good picture that shows the golden script in the background that I kept mentioning in my previous reveals but had never had much luck showing you guys. I hope you enjoyed these projects as much as I enjoyed making and showing them. If you are interested in getting any of the stamps I used, they are all available in the TGF store. Well guys I'm off to take some meds and get some rest so I can kick this flu's butt, see you guys tomorrow for a new Farm Fresh Friday challenge at The Greeting Farm

Darling Dollies

Happy Tuesday farmers! The sun is shining, the temperature is no longer negative (still not above freezing yet :( ) , and best of all my hubby is finally back! My heart is so happy and full that I just knew Dollie with Hearts would be the perfect image image for my next coaster/tile project!

Just as with my Dollie with Kitty coaster, I started by stamping my Dollie onto a clean dry travertine tile with timber brown stazon. I also stamped Dollie onto a scrap piece of paper and cut her out to be used to mask the image later. Next I colored up my image using my prismacolor pencils adding layers of colors just as I would if I were coloring on kraft. Once I had Dollie all colored up, I chose a sentiment from another TGF stamp set, OA Lovey Dovey, that I thought went well with Dollie with Hearts as well. I messed this one up a bit because I accidentally grabbed my jet black stazon instead of the timber brown so the sentiment is a bit darker than it should have been. The next step was to outline both Dollie and the sentiments with a white gel pen to make them both pop against the soon to be distressed looking tile. After that comes the masking part I mentioned earlier with the pre stamped and cut out image and a bit of adhesive from my ATG. Once the image was masked off, I used a small recollections script background stamp I bought from Michael's craft store and repeatedly stamped in timber brown stazon to create a full background. To add a little more interest (which doesn't show up so great in photos) I stamped the same script randomly throughout the tile in gold acrylic paint for accent. Once the paint was dry, I peeled away the mask over Dollie and inked the edges in walnut stain distress ink to give it that aged antique-y look. For a final touch (and since I just can't seem to resist) I added some stickles to Dollie's dress and hearts in her apron. Not exactly water resistant, but hey, I never intended to actually USE my coasters, just show them off :D So two down and two to go, are you guys excited to see the next in the set? I hope so, I can't wait to share so see you soon!

TGF March NEW RELEASE Blog Hop

Happy Sunday Farmers!! Today is March 1st and you know what that means, right?!! The New Release for March has now hit the TGF Store!! These new stamps are amazing, and would make an awesome addition to your TGF Stamp collection!

As always, you have a chance to WIN the entire March release, which includes Frou Frou Royal, HG-Classy, and Dollie with Kitty. I think you’ll agree the DT cards you’ve seen this week have all showcased these stamps beautifully! You’re in for a real treat as you blog hop with us today.

One lucky winner who visits all of the DT’s blogs, comments, and comes back here letting us know they did will take home the ENTIRE March Release from The Greeting Farm. Here’s our Blog Hop line-up:

KRYSTAL (Me)

My project for today's blog hop isn't a card, its an altered tile using Dollie with Kitty!

Isn't she darling? I stamped her onto a 4x4" travertine tile that I picked up at Home Depot (9 in a pack for about $4) using timber brown Stazon ink. Since I hadn't planned on using copics to color, I didn't need to bake it, so I dove right in coloring with my prisma color pencils. Since the pencils are wax based, there's not ,much chance of smudging or smearing when water is introduced to the surface so the image remains intact. Next I stamped the sentiment from Dollie With Hearts (available now) also in timber brown Stazon. I masked off both Dollie and the sentiment and used a script stamp to create a background, alternating timber brown Stazon with gold acrylic paint. Last to create a more aged look I inked around the edges with TH walnut stain distress ink. since distress ink is water based I decided to seal the edges a bit so that the color wouldn't run and ruin my Dollie. I wanted Dollie to stand out more so I used a white gel pen and outlined the entire image and sentiment. It was a subtle addition that made all the difference. I love how this project turned out so much that I'm working on a complete set of Dollie coasters and I can't wait to show you guys the progress as I complete them! I need one more Dollie stamp and I have my eye on Dollie with Ice Cream closely tied with Dollie with Bow next so stay tuned to see which one I end up getting/using!

Please stop by all the Designers’ blogs to leave them some love! Then, be sure to come back to The Greeting Farm Blog to let us know you completed the hop! You have until Monday, March 2nd 11:00pm CST to leave your comments. We’ll announce the winner on our Wow’d Me Wednesday post!!
Have an awesome day and a great time hopping!

Love this Digi!

Hi there bloggers! Long time no see right, or is it just me? I promise I'm working on getting back to blogging more often like I used to. I've noticed that I have a bad habit of creating projects and then forgetting to blog them and I've really been on a Valentine kick so this week (probably this month) will be mostly centered around that lovey dovey holiday! Still playing along with TGF's Roses are Red Farm Fresh Friday challenge theme, today's card features Valentine Anya digi

This is one of my absolute favorite digis and as I've said before, I wish and hope with fingers crossed that Marie will be kind enough to release her in rubber as well! I really had a lot of fun coloring her up with my copics and I can see a vast improvement with my hair coloring so practice really does make perfect! The sentiment is from the Dollie with Hearts set (now available in the store) and the heart dies are the Memory Box precious hearts die. The papers I used today are from the doodlebug designs sweetheart 12x12 kit and the little roses, I ordered from I am roses. I always buy different flowers in only white and then use my distress markers, copics, or twinkling H2Os to color them to match my projects. Whenever possible I try to save $$$ because card making gets expensive really quickly, especially with something new around every corner! What are some crafty money savers you use? See you guys soon!

Lots-o-Love,
Krys

Farm Fresh Friday

TGIF friends! Not just because this week seemed to drag by, but because it's time for a new Farm Fresh Friday Challenge over at The Greeting Farm, I'm die-ing to show you guys my card! Lol, sorry I couldn't help myself as the name of the game is Die-alicious, meaning you have to use 2 or more dies on your card/project, hence the reason for my bad pun! Today I'm using my newest favorite from the January release, Dollie With Hearts:

Dollie With Hearts

I loved this challenge because it gave me an excuse to go a little overboard with my small, slowly growing, collection of dies! Many of my dies are lovey/valentine themed, and since Valentine's day is my favorite holiday this card came together quickly. I colored up Dollie using my copic markers and a little stickles here and there to add some sparkle to her outfit. The white chevron on kraft paper is by doodlebug designs (got mine on e-bay) and the white paper is a scrap of Georgia Pacific white cardstock #60 (walmart) ran through an embossing folder I've had for ages. The dies I used are an assortment of brands. The heart banner die is by LaLa Land crafts, the pennant banner is a Poppy Stamps die, the hearts are Memory Box, the doily is from Stampin Up (retired) and the arrows, lacy oval and oval dies are Spellbinders. Last but not least the 'Smile' sentiment die is by The Greeting Farm (retired, sorry!) from a set called delicate words. By the time I'd finished loading on dies my card was starting to look a bit busy so I kept the embellishments simple by adding only a few small pearls here and there. I usually don't use more than two dies on one card but this was a fun change for me trying to make all the elements come together without over crowding and overshadowing the image I used. Be sure to stop by The Greeting Farm to check out last week's challenge winner and see what my other fellow DT gals have cooked up, I know they're to die for :D O.k. that was my last pun today, promise! Don't forget to link up your crafty creations for a chance to win a fabulous prize

Find Joy in the Ordinary

Hi guys! Just wanted to pop in today with a cute little tag I made a while back but hadn't had a chance to blog about yet using the adorable Angel Kaylee digi from Some Odd Girl

Angel Kaylee Digi

And a Close Up

I'm still working on my 3D technique but I believe its coming along nicely! I colored Kaylee using my copic markers and some wink of stella for shimmer on her outfit and wings. I inked around the edges of my papers with walnut stain distress ink to give it an aged look and tie it in with the browns in her hair and outfit. next I layerd a scrap of DP onto some leftover chocolate chip SU! cardstock to create a simple elegant looking background for Kaylee. The sentiment is from one of The Greeting Farm's new releases, Dollie With Hearts, stamped in Timber Brown Stazon ink. I loved that sentiment the moment I read it and couldn't wait to stamp it on everything! Like many of my 3d paper pieced projects I kept the embellishments simple, adding only a bit of ribbon and a few DIY enamel dots so that the focus would be on the image. This tag wasn't for a particular challenge, just part of my New Year's resolution to practice techniques that give me a hard time so hope you guys like it!
