TGIF fellow Farmers! My goodness this week went by quickly. Hubby went back to work Monday and my oldest daughter went back to school so the house has stayed quiet and most importantly, CLEAN. The temperatures have been in the single to negative digits all week long with several feet of snow here, not awesome for a native Texan so I've been shut in :-( To me that seemed like the perfect recipe for getting crafty! This week's Farm Fresh Friday theme,
Baby, It's Cold Outside!, happens to match the weather so I knew just which warm and cozy looking TGF cutie I wanted to use:
Cozy Ian Digi
His scarf looks so extra warm and cuddly, makes me wish I had one just like it! I've been practicing my 3d paper piecing and have done a few projects using this technique. I definitely see an improvement in my work and the process gets easier the more I do it. It is kind of tedious to some but I love the look of the results so much! I colored the image with my copic markers, cut out and glued everything down then set it aside to dry. For the card, I layered a piece of white Georgia Pacific cardstock onto a kraft base that I inked with TH walnut stain. I wanted to create a subtle snowy background so with my versamark ink pad I stamped a repeating snowflake pattern onto a piece of Bazzille Card Shoppe heavy weight cardstock in the color whirlypop. I sprinkled clear embossing powder and used my heat gun to bring out the snowflake pattern to keep it subtle. I had a few scraps of a wood patterned paper in my stash that I knew would add a warm toasty feel to the card to go with his warm toasty outfit so I inked them around the edges with walnut stain also. For embellishments I added a bit of jute twine and some coordinating buttons with a computer generated sentiment. Once the glue was dry on my image, I mounted him on my card using foam dots! It may be cold outside, but Ian will be perfectly cozy on my card! Be sure to head over to
